Saudi Arabia deploys missile defence system in Makkah to protect pilgrims

Makkah: The Saudi Ministry of Defence has deployed a surface-to-air missile defence system in Makkah to ensure the safety of pilgrims during Hajj.
The ministry also released images of the system, reaffirming that the mission of the air defence forces is to “protect the guests of Allah.” In addition, military helicopters are conducting aerial surveillance of Masjid al-Haram and surrounding areas.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Royal Saudi Air Force is actively supporting security, logistics, and emergency operations during the Hajj season.
The Air Force commander for the Hajj mission stated that their role includes aerial monitoring, medical evacuations, and the transport of critical equipment.
