LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators’ pacer Mohammad Amir has dismissed any notion of a personal rivalry with Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam, following their latest on-field encounter during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Amir emphasised that their competitive moments are all part of the game’s excitement and are meant to entertain cricket fans.

“This is not a fight,” Amir stated. “Whether you look at social media or watch the match live, you can see fans enjoying these moments. At the end of the day, our responsibility is to entertain.”

Amir, who has dismissed Babar twice in this PSL season, explained that aggression is a natural element of fast bowling and adds to the thrill for spectators.

“As a bowler, it’s my job to challenge the batter and display aggression, while the batter’s job is to counter and dominate. This competitive spirit is essential, but it should always stay within the spirit of the game,” he said.
