Monsoon Rains Expected Across Pakistan, Heavy Showers May Trigger Flooding and Landslides

The Meteorological Department has forecast another spell of monsoon rains, with showers expected across much of the country starting today and continuing through Monday.

According to the latest advisory, rainfall is likely in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Some areas may experience heavy downpours, which could lead to urban flooding, rising water levels in rivers and streams, and landslides in mountainous regions.

Meanwhile, the weather in most parts of Sindh is expected to remain hot and humid, though light to moderate rain is predicted in areas including Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and parts of the coastal belt.

In the past 24 hours, the heaviest rainfall was recorded in Rahim Yar Khan, where 47 mm of rain fell.

In Karachi, the skies remain partly cloudy and humid, with the possibility of light rain or drizzle during the night, as per the Met Office.
