Monsoon Spell 11 Forecasted in Punjab, Flood Risks Expected

The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for the 11th monsoon spell in the province.

According to PDMA spokesperson, rainfall is expected in the upper areas of the rivers from September 16 to 19. The authorities have instructed all commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province to remain on high alert.

DG Irfan Ali Kathia mentioned that there is a risk of flooding in streams and small rivers due to the anticipated rainfall. In light of the instructions from the Chief Minister of Punjab, the commissioners, deputy commissioners, and other officers are prepared to respond.

Health, irrigation, communication, local government, and livestock departments have all been put on high alert. DG PDMA has also urged the public to take necessary precautions during the inclement weather, including avoiding gatherings near rivers and staying away from recreational activities. People are advised to stay indoors during storms and refrain from unnecessary travel for safety.
