Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the wife of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik who is jailed and the chairwoman of the Peace and Culture Organisation, urged the whole community to recognise the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people.

In a powerful show of solidarity, Mullick led a protest in Islamabad on Kashmir Solidarity Day, attended by a sizable contingent of civil society representatives, students, and civilians brandishing Pakistani and Kashmiri flags.

Mullick praised the tenacity of the Kashmiri people in remarks to the media on the occasion.

“Anyone who dares to raise the voice of Kashmir on the global stage becomes a target of oppression,” she said, denouncing India’s continued actions of genocide in the area.

She said that the victims’ sacrifices had only made the Kashmiri people more determined and that their blood would not be in vain. Mrs. Malik also called on the world community to speak out against India’s unlawful occupation of Kashmiri homes.

“Why has the UN failed to hold India accountable to this day?” she said, casting doubt on the organization’s efficacy.

Mushaal Hussein Mullick emphasised that Kashmiris are one of the world’s most courageous people and called for the immediate release of innocent Kashmiris held in Indian jails. “The international community has a moral obligation to support justice and truth,” she said in closing.
