“My conscience doesn’t allow me to watch the India-Pakistan cricket match,” says Asaduddin Owaisi.

New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi said that his conscience did not permit him to watch a cricket match between India and Pakistan.

Speaking during a Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sandur and the Pahalgam attack, Owaisi strongly criticised the government, questioning its stance on allowing cricket matches with Pakistan while diplomatic and trade ties remain suspended.

“If we have banned trade, restricted air and water routes, and claim that ‘blood and water cannot flow together’, then how can we justify playing cricket?” he asked.

He further stated that engaging in sports under such circumstances contradicts the government’s own policies and sends a confusing message.
