NDMA Issues Nationwide Heavy Rainfall Alert, Warns of Flooding in Low-Lying Areas

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecast heavy rainfall across Pakistan within the next 24 hours, urging citizens and local authorities to remain alert and prepared for possible emergencies.
According to an NDMA spokesperson, Rawalpindi and Islamabad are expected to receive intermittent heavy rains over the next 24 to 48 hours, potentially causing a rise in water levels in Nullah Lai and leading to flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents living near Nullah Lai and other vulnerable zones have been advised to stay ready for immediate evacuation if warning sirens are sounded. The NDMA stressed the importance of public cooperation with emergency services and said that precautionary measures are already underway in coordination with relevant authorities.
The spokesperson also warned of heavy rainfall in several other cities, including Lahore, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Khushab, Sargodha, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Hafizabad. These regions are at risk of urban flooding and overflow of rivers and streams, especially in the case of intense downpours.
