NEPRA Approves Major Cut in Tariff for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Islamabad: In a move aimed at promoting electric vehicles (EVs) across the country, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a significant reduction in the electricity tariff for EV charging stations.
According to NEPRA’s latest announcement, the new base tariff for EV charging stations has been set at Rs 23.57 per unit. Previously, the base tariff was Rs 45.55 per unit, marking a substantial decrease of Rs 21.98 per unit.
Additionally, NEPRA has also approved the removal of the Rs 24.44 per unit capped margin for charging stations. The decision is expected to encourage the growth of EV infrastructure and offer relief to both consumers and charging service providers.
This initiative aligns with the Government of Pakistan’s Electric Vehicle Policy 2025-2030, which aims to establish 3,000 EV charging stations nationwide over the next two years. The broader goal is to transition 30% of the country’s transport system to electric vehicles by the year 2030.
