New Monsoon Spell to Begin from Monday, Says PDMA Punjab

A fresh spell of monsoon rains is set to begin tomorrow (Monday), according to a statement released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab.

Director General PDMA, Irfan Ali Kathia, confirmed that no loss of life has been reported in the province due to rain-related incidents in the past 24 hours. He added that the situation is being closely monitored across all districts.

According to the PDMA, the Indus River is currently experiencing low-level flooding at Tarbela and Kalabagh, while a moderate flood level has been recorded at Taunsa Barrage.

The rivers Chenab, Ravi, Jhelum, and Sutlej are flowing below flood levels across Punjab, indicating no immediate danger.

Weather Forecast by Met Office

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has reported that monsoon currents are continuously penetrating the upper and central regions of the country. A westerly weather system is also expected to enter Pakistan on July 29.

Rain and scattered heavy showers are forecasted in:

  • Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other northern districts of Punjab from July 28 to 31
  • D.G. Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, and other southern districts of Punjab from July 29 to 31

This monsoon spell is also expected to bring rain to Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan, according to the Met Office.

PDMA Advisory

PDMA Punjab has advised all relevant departments to remain on high alert and has issued the following guidelines for citizens:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel in low-lying areas.
  • Report any emergencies immediately via the 1129 helpline.
  • Stay informed through official sources and local administration.
