In a press conference on Thursday, Senior Minister for Sindh, Sharjeel Memon said, a new system had been implemented, stating, “The previous method allowed judges to appoint themselves within the judiciary, which is now a thing of the past.” He described the reforms as a “significant step,” emphasizing accountability across all levels of government. “No one is above the law; everyone is answerable,” he asserted.

Sahrjeel stated, “Parliament representatives are elected by the votes of the people.” He criticized past judicial activism, where a few misused their powers, saying, “Certain individuals manipulated the judiciary based on personal preferences.”

Drawing comparisons with judicial practices in countries like the UK and Canada, he argued that appointments should be handled by the government. “Those who object are often the same people who cite examples from these countries,” he noted.

Sharjeel Memon commended Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto for consulting with all parties to achieve consensus on the 26th amendment, stating that even the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) did not raise objections to the draft.

The Senior Minister also condemned recent inappropriate actions by certain PTI members in London, stating that their tactics involve intimidation. “This is mafia behavior; if decisions are not made following their wishes, they resort to threats,” he remarked.

Sharjeel Memon expressed his concerns about the former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, describing him as the biggest target of criticism. He accused Nisar of misconduct and stated, “If I ever meet Saqib Nisar, I will show him respect, but I will not tolerate his hypocrisy.”

He said, Israeli lobby is actively working to weaken Pakistan and criticized PTI’s lobbying efforts in the U.S. “It is hypocritical for PTI to claim that a foreign country removed them from power while simultaneously seeking support from that very country,” he said.
