OGRA Denies Fuel Shortage

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has dismissed reports of a fuel shortage in Pakistan, assuring the public that petroleum supply operations are running smoothly across the country.

In an official statement, an OGRA spokesperson clarified that while there were earlier delays in clearing imported petroleum shipments, the situation has now been fully resolved.

The spokesperson confirmed that diesel and petrol vessels from Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and WAFI had successfully received clearance, ensuring continuous availability of fuel nationwide.

“Fuel supply operations remain normal, and business is proceeding as usual,” the OGRA official stated.

Concerns Over Port Delays Addressed

The clarification comes after industry concerns were raised over the Sindh government’s reinstatement of a 100% bank guarantee under the Sindh Infrastructure Development Cess (IDC), which had reportedly delayed the clearance of multiple petroleum cargoes at Karachi ports.

In a letter sent to the Sindh chief minister and federal authorities, the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) warned that at least five key shipments—carrying petrol and diesel for PSO, HPL, PGL, and PARCO—were stuck at the port awaiting customs clearance.

OGRA Monitoring Fuel Supply Chains

OGRA reiterated that there is no disruption in the domestic distribution network. The authority added that it is actively monitoring supply chains to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability across all regions.
