Islamabad— Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub has challenged the government to prove its authority by arranging a meeting with the party’s founder, Imran Khan if it truly possesses the power to do so.

Speaking to the media at the Islamabad Judicial Complex, Omar Ayub challenged the government to facilitate a meeting with Imran Khan, who also serves as the opposition leader in the National Assembly, criticised the government’s refusal to allow PTI leaders to meet Imran Khan. He said that the authorities had informed them that arranging such a meeting was not in line with the jail manual.

“We were told that arranging a meeting with Imran Khan isn’t included in the jail manual,” Omar Ayub challenges the government to facilitate a meeting with Imran Khan, pointing to the ongoing restrictions on political interaction with the imprisoned former prime minister.

Ayub emphasised that the PTI’s primary demand is the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the events surrounding May 9 and November 26 and the immediate release of all political workers arrested in connection with these incidents.

Earlier, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed regret over the accusations levelled by PTI leaders, defending his role in facilitating dialogue between the government and the opposition. Sadiq said that he had been working to bridge differences and ensure constructive conversations between both sides.
