KARACHI: Violence broke out at Civil Hospital Karachi, Sindh’s second-largest hospital, where doctors, staff, and patients faced harassment. The Additional Medical Superintendent (AMS) of the OPD reported the incidents in a letter to the hospital’s Medical Superintendent (MS). The letter described how some outsiders violently mistreated hospital workers and patients. The situation has raised serious concerns about safety within the hospital premises.

According to the AMS, two men named Anwar and Kashif harassed female patients in the OPD. They reportedly demanded bribes for quicker medical consultations and tests. Many patients waiting in long queues suffered due to their actions. The letter also mentioned that these men claim to represent a political party. However, the party has denied any connection to them.

The AMS requested immediate legal action and called for banning these individuals from entering the hospital. Video footage circulated online shows doctors and staff being attacked by unknown men. The violence disrupted hospital operations and caused fear among employees and patients. The hospital administration is under pressure to improve security measures quickly.

Police sources revealed that the troublemakers mainly come from Machar Colony and nearby areas. They are led by a man named Qadir and are involved in private and trainee recruitments at the hospital. The police said these individuals claim ties to an influential Sindh politician. However, authorities have not confirmed these political links yet. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Overall, this violence at Civil Hospital Karachi highlights serious security gaps. Staff and patients now fear for their safety during daily hospital visits. Authorities must take swift action to stop such hooliganism. Hospital officials and police are urged to strengthen protection and hold the culprits accountable. The community hopes for a safer environment soon.
