Over 2700 TLP Activists Arrested

LAHORE – Punjab Police have arrested 2,716 activists of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) following a wave of violent protests across the province, according to an official police statement.

In Lahore alone, 251 individuals were taken into custody, while other major arrests occurred in Sheikhupura (178), Mandi Bahauddin (190), Rawalpindi (155), Faisalabad (143), Gujranwala (135), Sialkot (128), and Attock (121).

Police have registered 76 First Information Reports (FIRs) related to the unrest, with Lahore accounting for the majority — 39 cases — followed by eight in Sheikhupura.

The violent protests resulted in serious injuries to 250 police personnel, and one inspector was martyred during clashes with demonstrators. Lahore reported the highest number of casualties, with 142 officers injured, followed by 48 in Sheikhupura.

A police spokesperson confirmed that law enforcement operations are ongoing and will continue until law and order is fully restored.

Authorities have also prepared a list of protest organizers and financiers associated with the recent violence. Security sources said that key individuals have been identified using geo-fencing, call data records, and video footage. The data has been shared with law enforcement agencies for targeted action.

“A countrywide network and command points have been exposed. The identities of arsonists and masterminds are confirmed, and raids are expected soon,” a security source stated.

Special investigation teams have also been formed to track financial transactions and potential funding sources for the TLP. Officials confirmed that a zero-tolerance policy is in effect for those involved in lawlessness.

TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi and several party workers have been booked under terrorism charges for allegedly planning and carrying out violent attacks on police in Rawat, Taxila, and Muridke.
