Over 41 Million Passengers Traveled by Train in Pakistan in 2023-24

SLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has reported a substantial increase in passenger traffic during the fiscal year 2023-24, with around 41.91 million passengers travelling by train, marking a rise of 6.51 million compared to the previous year’s 35.40 million.

The total passenger earnings for 2023–24 reached Rs. 47.712 billion, surpassing the budgetary target by Rs. 8.712 billion. This represents a growth of Rs. 13.799 billion in comparison to the previous financial year, 2022-23.

Additionally, the railway’s revenue from other sources, such as freight, military traffic, property and land, and scrap, amounted to Rs. 39.803 billion.

The authorities are optimistic that the upward trend in passenger numbers will continue in the upcoming year, further bolstering Pakistan Railways’ financial performance.
