Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that even one year after the Pahalgam attack, India has failed to provide any concrete evidence linking Pakistan to the incident.

In a televised statement on Wednesday marking the first anniversary of the April 22, 2025 attack, Tarar said that India has neither presented “solid proof” nor offered satisfactory explanations regarding its allegations against Pakistan. The attack in Pahalgam, located in the disputed Himalayan region, killed 26 people, mostly tourists, and was described as one of the deadliest incidents in the area in over two decades.

Responsibility for the attack was reportedly claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), an otherwise little-known group. However, Tarar reiterated that Pakistan had rejected India’s accusations and had even offered support for a neutral and transparent international investigation, which he said New Delhi declined.

He argued that India’s refusal to accept an impartial probe “raises serious questions” and suggested that the incident could have been a “false flag operation.” He further criticized what he described as India’s handling of the matter through “empty slogans” and “irresponsible narrative building.”

Tarar also highlighted Pakistan’s own suffering from terrorism and said that Islamabad had expressed sympathy for the victims of the attack despite rejecting the allegations made against it.

Questioning procedural inconsistencies, the minister pointed out reports that an FIR was registered within minutes of the incident and noted concerns raised by analysts about the lack of adequate security arrangements at the site.

He further accused India of misrepresenting internal and external issues, saying it often projects domestic challenges as external threats, while treating international disputes like Kashmir as internal matters.

The statement reflects continuing diplomatic tension between the two countries over the incident, with both sides maintaining sharply contrasting positions.
