Kabul: Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan have signed a feasibility study agreement for the UAP Railway Project, marking a significant step toward enhancing regional connectivity. The project aims to link the three countries via rail and provide Central Asian states with direct access to Pakistani seaports.

The agreement was signed in Kabul during the one-day visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who was received by Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Naeem Wardak.

Dar was accompanied by Federal Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, Special Envoy to Afghanistan Sadiq Khan, and Railways Secretary Syed Mazhar Ali Shah.

During his meeting with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in trade, transit, and security.

In a social media statement, Ishaq Dar called the agreement a “historic step toward regional connectivity and economic integration”, and thanked his Afghan and Uzbek counterparts for their support.
