Pakistan and Bangladesh strengthen bilateral ties at the D-8 Summit in Cairo

In a significant move to enhance bilateral relations, Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to expand cooperation across various sectors. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, on the sidelines of the D-8 Summit in Cairo on Thursday.
The two leaders discussed ways to deepen ties in areas of mutual interest, focusing on economic, cultural, and social development. They emphasised the importance of aligning efforts to achieve mutually beneficial development objectives and creating a more robust partnership.
The discussions also highlighted the value of people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges. Both leaders noted the success of recent exchanges, including the Bangladesh Cricket Team’s visit to Pakistan and a performance by a Pakistani artist in Dhaka. These events have contributed to fostering closer relations and greater understanding between the two nations.
Prime Minister Sharif and Dr. Yunus agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation in various multilateral forums, including the D-8, to promote shared goals and mutual interests. The meeting, which was conducted in a warm and cordial atmosphere, underscored the goodwill and fraternal ties that exist between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
