ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Iran in multiple areas of mutual interest. He said both countries aim to deepen collaboration in economic development, bilateral trade, and regional peace. The prime minister shared these views during a meeting with Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House. The Iranian speaker was accompanied by a high-level delegation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and highlighted the close and historic relations between Pakistan and Iran. He emphasized that both nations share deep cultural, religious, and brotherly ties built on trust and respect. The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue and diplomacy for resolving global disputes peacefully. He also expressed deep respect for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pazeshkian.
The prime minister said Pakistan and Iran have always supported each other against external aggression and state-sponsored terrorism. He noted that both countries have suffered from terrorism and thus share a common resolve for regional peace and security. He added that Pakistan and Iran will continue to work together to promote the unity of the Muslim Ummah. The meeting reflected a shared vision for stability and cooperation in the region.
In his remarks, Speaker Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf thanked Pakistan for its support during the recent Iran-Israel conflict. He said the Iranian people deeply value Pakistan’s solidarity during the 12-day war. The speaker emphasized that both nations stand united in their belief in peace, mutual respect, and the unity of the Muslim world. He noted that the strong partnership between the two neighbors continues to strengthen over time.
Dr. Ghalibaf also expressed Iran’s desire to enhance economic and trade cooperation with Pakistan. He conveyed warm greetings from Iranian President Masoud Pazeshkian to Prime Minister Shehbaz and the people of Pakistan. The meeting ended on a positive note, reaffirming both countries’ resolve to expand bilateral cooperation. Both leaders agreed to continue efforts for peace, prosperity, and stronger ties between the two brotherly nations.
