Pakistan and Malaysia signed six key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Monday to strengthen cooperation in several areas. The signing took place at the Perdana Putra Complex in Putrajaya during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s official visit. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim invited him for the three-day trip. The MoUs followed a one-on-one meeting between the two leaders. Later, they held detailed delegation-level talks to explore mutual interests.

One of the main agreements focused on diplomatic training. Malaysia’s Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations and Pakistan’s Foreign Service Academy will now work together. The MoU aims to improve diplomatic skills and knowledge sharing between the two countries. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Malaysian Foreign Minister Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan exchanged the documents. This step is expected to build stronger communication between the two foreign services.

Another MoU was signed to promote higher education cooperation. Both countries agreed to increase academic exchanges and joint research. DPM Ishaq Dar and Malaysia’s Higher Education Minister Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir formalized the deal. Additionally, tourism received a boost as ministers from both sides agreed to work on joint promotion strategies. Minister Tiong King Sing and Minister Attaullah Tarar exchanged documents to enhance tourism collaboration.

The two nations also reached an agreement on Halal certification. This move will help align standards and boost trade in Halal goods. Minister Dr. Haji Mohd Na’im and Minister Jam Kamal Khan signed the deal on behalf of their countries. Moreover, both sides pledged to fight corruption together. Anti-corruption officials Azam Bin Baki and Sohail Nasir formalized the agreement to share knowledge and strategies.

Finally, an MoU was signed to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Pakistan’s SMEDA and Malaysia’s SME Corporation will work closely to develop business ties. CEO Rizal bin Dato’ Nain and Syed Tariq Fatemi exchanged the documents. These agreements reflect growing trust and shared goals between the two countries. Overall, the visit marked a new chapter in Pakistan-Malaysia relations.
