Pakistan and the United Kingdom on Tuesday agreed to deepen their cooperation across multiple areas, including tackling the pressing challenge of climate change.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between the UK Under Secretary of State for the Middle East and South Asia, Hamish Falconer, and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The meeting, held in Islamabad, highlighted the mutual commitment of both nations to strengthen their longstanding bilateral relationship.

According to a press release from Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the two leaders discussed a range of regional and bilateral issues of shared interest. A significant focus of their talks was on identifying ways to enhance collaboration in addressing climate change, a growing challenge for both countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further reinforcing the traditionally strong and friendly ties between Pakistan and the UK. He also emphasised the importance of joint efforts to combat global challenges, including climate change, which disproportionately affects developing nations like Pakistan.
