Pakistan Condemns Israeli Interception of Gaza Flotilla, Demands Release of Citizens

Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla carrying aid to Gaza. The Foreign Office called the mission a peaceful humanitarian effort and a symbol of global solidarity. It stressed that Israel’s actions violate international law. The statement raised serious concern for the safety of all civilians on board, including Pakistani nationals. Pakistan urged the international community to act swiftly to ensure their protection.

The Foreign Office highlighted that Pakistan, along with 15 other countries, had earlier issued a joint statement on the matter. That statement emphasized the need to protect the people on board the flotilla. The Foreign Office reiterated that protecting Pakistani citizens remains a top government priority. Efforts are ongoing through diplomatic channels to secure their safe return. Contacts are being made with international partners to resolve the issue quickly.

The spokesperson firmly stated that Pakistan does not recognize Israel as a legitimate state. Still, the country is actively engaged with global stakeholders to safeguard its citizens. Diplomatic efforts are focused on the immediate release of detained Pakistanis. Pakistan also reaffirmed its full support for humanitarian missions such as the Global Sumud Flotilla. It emphasized that humanitarian aid must not be blocked.

The incident has drawn further attention since former Pakistani Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan was among those detained. Advocacy groups confirmed his arrest by Israeli forces after the flotilla was stopped. Dozens of activists from various countries were also detained during the raid. This includes Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, who was part of the convoy. The flotilla had departed from Spain and aimed to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza.

Pakistan concluded its statement by reaffirming strong support for Palestine. It backed the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and called for a sovereign state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as the capital. The Foreign Office stressed that Pakistan stands firmly with the people of Gaza. It urged the global community to act against Israeli actions that worsen the humanitarian crisis.
