Pakistan Confronts Taliban Betrayal

Writer:Zafar Wani

Pakistan has once again faced attacks from the Taliban along its western border. These assaults come despite months of diplomatic warnings to Kabul. Pakistani officials repeatedly urged Afghanistan to stop harboring TTP militants responsible for attacks inside Pakistan. When the violence escalated, Islamabad responded decisively to defend its forces. The strikes were a reaction, not an unprovoked act.

Reports suggest Indian media knew about the Taliban movements days before the attacks. Taliban officials reportedly coordinated with Indian representatives, signaling growing ties between them. This partnership raises questions about regional loyalties and undermines long-standing Muslim solidarity in the area. Pakistan, historically a refuge for millions of Afghans, faces betrayal from those it once sheltered. The irony and bitterness of the situation remain evident.

For decades, Pakistan offered shelter to Afghan refugees during wars and crises. Afghans built lives in Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta while Pakistan bore the costs alone. Now, Taliban leaders threaten Pakistan while openly seeking favor from India. The shift exposes opportunism and disregard for the support Pakistan extended over decades. Strategic patience in Islamabad is tested amid growing frustration.

India sees Afghanistan as a strategic lever against Pakistan, exploiting Taliban hostility. Taliban engagement with Delhi highlights their opportunistic approach and disregard for Pakistan’s past assistance. Pakistani leadership maintains restraint but emphasizes readiness to protect national security. History warns India and Taliban alike that alliances of convenience rarely endure. Misplaced trust could have dire consequences for all involved.

From Khost to Spin Boldak, the cycle of betrayal continues. Taliban fighters, once indebted to Pakistan, now act against it while promising India stability. Pakistan remains firm, refusing to be cornered or intimidated by the two-front pressure. Betrayal has a short memory, and this time, Pakistan does not forget. The message is clear: loyalty cannot be assumed, and strength will be defended.
