Pakistan drops further in the world’s most corrupt countries ranking

Transparency International has released the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2024, revealing a rise in corruption in Pakistan. The country is now ranked 135th out of 180 nations, making it the 46th most corrupt country in the world. This marks a decline from 133rd place in 2023.
⇒Key Findings:
- Pakistan’s CPI score has dropped to 27 out of 100.
- The Economist Intelligence Unit’s ranking for Pakistan fell from 20 to 18.
- World Economic Survey also reported a significant decline in Pakistan’s ranking.
- During the PDM government, Pakistan ranked 140th among 180 countries.
- India ranked 39 places better than Pakistan, standing at 96th.
⇒Least & Most Corrupt Countries:
- Denmark remains the least corrupt nation.
- Finland and Singapore secured second and third spots.
- South Sudan, Somalia, and Venezuela ranked as the most corrupt countries.
- Corruption also increased in Iran, Iraq, and Russia (ranked 154th).
- Afghanistan placed 165th, while Bangladesh stood at 151st.
