Pakistan, IMF begin talks on agricultural income tax and economic reforms

Islamabad: The Pakistani government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have started negotiations on the agricultural income tax as part of the ongoing review of the $7 billion loan program.
The talks are taking place at the World Bank office, with officials from the Ministry of Finance, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and provincial governments participating. Discussions also include amendments to the Sovereign Wealth Funds Act and related regulations.
Additionally, officials from the Ministry of Energy and National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will discuss circular debt and tariff adjustments with the IMF team.
Sources say these negotiations are crucial, as the IMF is expected to present new conditions this week.
