Pakistan introduces online visa system for Sikhs who want to visit Pakistan

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with a 44-member delegation of Sikh pilgrims who arrived from the United States, led by Dr. Dilveer Singh Pannu, Surjeet Singh Hothi, Ranjit Singh Kahlon, and Lakshman Singh. The minister welcomed the delegation with a heartfelt “Ji Aayan Nu,” emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating Sikh visitors.
During the meeting, Minister Naqvi acknowledged the challenges faced by the Sikh community when traveling to Pakistan. He noted that during his tenure as Punjab Chief Minister, he addressed these issues. “The Sikh community often encountered difficulties obtaining visas to visit Pakistan,” he stated.
To ease this process, Naqvi announced the introduction of an online visa system for Sikhs wishing to visit Pakistan. He highlighted that members of the Sikh community holding American, Canadian, and UK passports can now submit their visa applications online and receive approval within 30 minutes, free of charge. This initiative aims to provide greater accessibility for Sikhs from these countries, as well as for those of Indian origin living abroad.
“Our priority is to provide more facilities for the Sikh community,” Naqvi asserted. He encouraged Sikhs to visit Pakistan frequently, stating, “You can come to Pakistan ten times a year, and we will always welcome you.” He also mentioned that online visa applications require only a simple form submission.
He further invited the delegation to experience upcoming cricket matches, including the Champions Trophy and Pakistan-India matches, assuring them of special arrangements for their visit.
The Sikh delegation expressed their gratitude for the hospitality extended by Minister Naqvi, noting that the online visa system has made their travels much easier. “You have won our hearts,” they said, expressing interest in potential investments in Pakistan.
