Pakistan, Kuwait deepen energy ties in key talks

Kuwait Assures Full Facilitation to Pakistani

Ali Pervaiz Malik, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, held a high-level meeting with Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi to discuss strengthening energy cooperation, bilateral relations, and regional developments.

During the meeting, Malik appreciated Kuwait’s continued support to Pakistan, particularly in the energy sector. He highlighted assurances from the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) regarding facilitating Pakistani-flagged vessels for potential imports of diesel and jet fuel. The move is expected to streamline logistics and enhance Pakistan’s fuel supply chain.

The minister emphasized the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait, noting that petroleum trade between the two nations spans over five decades. He described the partnership as one built on trust and deep-rooted ties, adding that Pakistan has consistently relied on Kuwaiti petroleum products, especially diesel

Malik also extended his regards to Tariq Suleiman Ahmed Al-Roumi and senior leadership at KPC, including CEO Sheikh Nawaf Al Sabah. He reiterated Pakistan’s desire to further expand cooperation in the energy domain.

On regional matters, Malik stressed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability, stating that the government, under Shehbaz Sharif, is actively working to promote peaceful conflict resolution and ensure the supply of essential commodities to Gulf Cooperation Council countries when needed.

Ambassador Almutairi praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to supporting Pakistan. Both sides agreed to maintain close engagement and explore new avenues for collaboration, particularly in the energy sector, to achieve shared economic benefits.
