Pakistan Railways Increases Fares by 2%, Effective from July 4

Lahore: Following the recent increase in petroleum prices, Pakistan Railways has announced a 2% fare hike for passenger trains. This is the second fare revision within a month.
According to the official notification, the revised fares will come into effect from July 4, 2025. The increase will apply to all passenger services, including express, passenger, shuttle, and saloon trains.
The notification further states that the 2% fare increase will also apply to bookings. Instructions for implementation have been issued to the Director of IT and divisional officers (DS) across the country.
Railway officials revealed that the department was incurring a monthly loss of Rs. 109 million due to the rise in diesel prices, which led to the decision to revise fares.
It is worth noting that on June 18, 2025, Pakistan Railways had already increased fares by 3% for passenger trains and 4% for freight services.
