Pakistan Stock Exchange gains ground after a sluggish trading week

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) saw positive movement on Monday, recovering from the sluggish trading experienced last week.

On Friday, the KSE-100 Index closed at 113,247 points, marking the last trading day of the week. However, Monday’s session saw a bounce back, with the index reaching 114,068 points in the early hours of trade.

The gains, however, were slightly reduced later in the day, with the KSE-100 Index settling at 113,958 points, showing an overall increase of 711 points.

Last week, the market had experienced a decline of over 4,000 points. According to the weekly report, the KSE-100 Index dropped by 4,340 points, a reduction of 3.69 percent. The index fluctuated between a high of 118,735 points and a low of 112,013 points during the week.

In terms of trading volume, business activity for the week stood at Rs3.91 billion, with the total business activity amounting to Rs159 billion.

Despite the previous week’s losses, Monday’s recovery shows potential for a positive outlook in the coming days, with investors hoping for stability in the market.
