Pakistan, UAE Sign Landmark Visa Exemption MoU

Abu Dhabi: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Mutual Exemption of Entry Visa Requirements, marking a significant step forward in easing travel between the two nations.
The agreement was formalised during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC), held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. The session comprehensively reviewed the state of bilateral relations and outlined new areas for enhanced collaboration.
The high-level meeting was co-chaired by Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Ahead of the main session, a preparatory meeting of the JMC working group was convened, led by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa and the UAE’s Minister of State Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.
During the session, both sides agreed on concrete steps to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including:
- Trade and investment
- Banking and finance
- Energy and climate change
- Defence and security
- Food security and healthcare
- Aviation, railways, and transport
- Culture, education, and IT
Emphasis was placed on enhancing institutional linkages and promoting inter-ministerial coordination to ensure the effective implementation of shared goals.
