Pakistan’s government is committed to supporting freelancers and IT industry growth: Shaza Fatima Khawaja

The Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges faced by freelancers and boosting the growth of Pakistan’s IT and telecommunication sector.
During a meeting with freelancers and influencers on Tuesday, she recognised their significant role in shaping the future of Pakistan’s digital economy. She called freelancers the true representatives of the country’s growing digital potential and stressed their importance in establishing Pakistan as a global hub for talent, innovation, and creativity.
The meeting was attended by IT Secretary Zarar Hasham Khan, as well as the President of the Pakistan Freelancers Association, Tufail Ahmed Khan, and Chairman Ibrahim Amin, who joined the discussion via video link.
Minister Khawaja emphasised the government’s ongoing efforts to provide young people, freelancers, students, and professionals with digital skills and tools to help them seize opportunities in both local and international online markets.
She specifically highlighted the DigiSkills program, which is training youth in modern digital skills, and mentioned the National Fiberisation Plan. This initiative aims to improve the country’s connectivity, ensuring high-quality telecom services across Pakistan. With these efforts, the government hopes to create an environment where freelancers and the IT sector can thrive, contributing to the country’s digital economy.
