Pakistan’s Naval Chief strengthens ties with Oman during official visit

Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff of Pakistan, recently visited Oman to meet with top military and naval officials, aiming to bolster defence cooperation and reinforce the longstanding relationship between the two nations.

During his visit, Admiral Ashraf held separate discussions with key figures, including General Sultan Mohammad Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office; Rear Admiral Saif Nasser Al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman; and Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commander of the National Defence College. The meetings centred on enhancing defence collaboration and further solidifying the historic ties between Pakistan and Oman.

The naval chief emphasised the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to collaborative maritime security, highlighting its ongoing initiatives in coordination with regional countries. Admiral Ashraf reiterated that Pakistan has always been at the forefront of promoting maritime security in the region.

Oman’s civil and military leadership expressed appreciation for the Pakistan Navy’s efforts and recognised the importance of strengthening bilateral naval cooperation. They praised the contributions of the Pakistan Navy to regional stability.

In addition to his meetings, Admiral Ashraf visited several key facilities, including the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) Said bin Sultan Naval Base, RNO Ship, Maritime Security Centre, National Defence College, Military Technical College, and Sultan Qaboos Naval Academy, where he received detailed briefings on various naval operations and training programs.
