LAHORE: In advance of the 2025 Champions Trophy, Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has confirmed the opening date of the rebuilt Gaddafi Stadium.

During a press conference held at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Friday, the PCB president revealed intentions to open the renovated grounds for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

“On February 7, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will officially inaugurate the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore, and on February 11, President Asif Ali Zardari will open the stadium in Karachi,” Mohsin Naqvi said.

“In collaboration with the ICC, we have planned a Champions Trophy ceremony for February 16 in Lahore,” the PCB president stated.

In response to concerns over the chairs that were set up at the location, Mohsin Naqvi disclosed that premium chairs were brought in from China.

“The chairs have a 20-year warranty and are of international standards,” he stated.

After meeting with the selection committee, the PCB head disclosed that the Pakistani team for the 2025 Champions Trophy will be released later today.

The first match in the tri-nation series between South Africa, New Zealand, and Pakistan will take place at Gaddafi Stadium before the 2025 Champion Trophy.

The Gaddafi Stadium will host the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand on Saturday, February 8 at 2:00 PM.

The PCB claims that additional seats have been placed throughout the Gaddafi Stadium, increasing the capacity of spectators.

Two enormous digital replay displays and up to 480 cutting-edge LED lights have been put around the venue.
