Lahore: The issue of Pakistan hosting the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy has taken a new turn, with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi presenting a firm stance during recent discussions with the International Cricket Council (ICC), according to sources.

In a conversation with ICC officials, Naqvi emphasised that the Champions Trophy should be held in Pakistan, reaffirming the nation’s position. Sources revealed that Naqvi asserted, “Pakistan has the right to host the Champions Trophy, and it should be held in Pakistan for the sake of our national integrity.”

The PCB chairman further stated that Pakistan would not accept a hybrid model, a proposal under which some matches could be played in neutral venues. “We are firm in our stance and will not entertain the hybrid model,” Naqvi said during the talks.

Sources also disclosed that Naqvi communicated a strong message to the ICC “We may face injuries or setbacks, but we will not tolerate any disrespect. Pakistan’s position is clear, and we will not compromise our dignity.”
