PCB Yet to Decide on Asia Cup 2025 Participation

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clarified that it has not yet made a final decision about the Asia Cup 2025. A spokesperson for the PCB said internal discussions are still ongoing and a final stance will be announced soon. The decision will be taken based on what best serves Pakistan’s cricket interests. This clarification came after several media reports suggested that the dispute had already been resolved. However, the board urged fans and media to wait for an official announcement.

The issue began during Pakistan’s group stage match against India in the Asia Cup 2025. During the match, Indian players refused to shake hands with the Pakistani team and captain, both at the toss and after the game. This unexpected gesture caused tension between the two teams and sparked public outrage in Pakistan. What escalated the situation further was a claim against match referee Andy Pycroft. Reports said he advised Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha not to initiate handshakes.

Following the incident, Pakistan raised strong objections and accused Pycroft of siding with the Indian team. The PCB then demanded Pycroft’s immediate removal from officiating any more of their matches. They also warned the International Cricket Council (ICC) that Pakistan would pull out of the tournament if the issue wasn’t resolved. This bold move put pressure on the ICC and created uncertainty over Pakistan’s continued participation in the event.

According to sources, the ICC has now accepted Pakistan’s demand and removed Pycroft from the next match. He has reportedly been replaced for Pakistan’s upcoming game against the United Arab Emirates. This development led to early reports suggesting that the conflict was resolved. However, the PCB has now stated that the final decision will be shared after complete internal consultations.

Meanwhile, speculation continues over whether Pakistan will remain part of the Asia Cup 2025. The PCB appears determined to defend its team’s dignity and ensure fair play. It has made clear that any final move will reflect national interest and cricketing fairness. As of now, fans are eagerly awaiting an official decision that could shape the rest of the tournament.
