Peshawar High Court Grants Transit Bail to Former President Arif Alvi

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) granted transit bail to former President Arif Alvi and his son, Awab Alvi, on Tuesday. The court allowed Arif Alvi a 40-day transit bail and his son a 30-day bail, in connection with multiple cases filed against them across various police stations in the country.
The bench, consisting of Justice Arshad Ali and Justice Fazal Subhan, responded to the defence counsel’s request, who expressed concerns about the potential arrest of Alvis in these cases. The court also directed the authorities to refrain from arresting the former president and his son in any of the registered cases during the bail period.
In a statement outside the court, Arif Alvi urged for the reversal of actions taken against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, of which he is a key member. He emphasized that it was not too late to undo the steps that have negatively impacted PTI. He further criticized the state of democracy and the constitution in Pakistan, claiming that both have been undermined to marginalize his political party.
