Islamabad: Petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to increase by Rs3 to Rs5 per litre, with the revised rates likely to take effect from July 16 to July 31, 2025. The anticipated hike comes in the wake of global oil price fluctuations and changes in domestic fiscal policies.

According to official sources, the federal government is preparing to announce the revised fuel prices on the night of July 15, 2025, as international energy markets continue to show upward trends, and the local currency faces pressure against the dollar.

Earlier this month, on July 1, the government had already raised petrol prices by Rs8.36 per litre, setting the new price at Rs266.79, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) went up by Rs10.39 to Rs272.98 per litre. That increase was largely due to shifts in global crude oil rates.

A carbon levy of Rs2.50 per litre was added on petrol (MS), while the petroleum levy was reduced by the same amount, keeping the total tax impact neutral. The sales tax on petroleum products remains at zero percent.
