Karachi: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight en route from Karachi to Islamabad was forced to make an emergency landing on Tuesday after developing a technical issue shortly after takeoff.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the problem occurred in the aircraft’s landing gear, which failed to retract properly. Acting swiftly, the captain contacted the control tower and diverted the flight back to Karachi to ensure passenger safety.

Notably, PIA’s CEO, Khurram Mushtaq, was among the passengers onboard the flight. All passengers were safely evacuated, and arrangements were made to transfer them to another aircraft, which completed the journey to Islamabad.

The faulty aircraft has been grounded for inspection and maintenance. Authorities have assured passengers that a detailed investigation is underway to identify and address the cause of the malfunction.
