PIA Seals Hangar Area, Gives Discount for Canada Trips

KARACHI – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has sealed the parking area of its Ispahani Hangar at Karachi airport. The action was taken jointly by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and PIA’s own security teams. As a result, aircraft engineers and technical staff have been denied entry into the hangar premises. This unexpected move has disrupted regular maintenance and engineering activities.
Moreover, the Society of Aircraft Engineers’ office is also located in the sealed parking area. Sources say the PAA had already issued a notice a week earlier. It directed the engineers’ society to vacate the office. Despite this warning, the office remained operational until the area was sealed. The reasons behind this sudden enforcement remain unclear.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, PIA has announced a 15% discount on its Canada-bound flights. The airline says the discount will help travelers manage costs more easily. Passengers can book discounted tickets until October 10. The offer is valid for travel between September 30 and December 19.
Earlier this month, PIA had temporarily suspended its Canada flights. The suspension was due to essential maintenance work on its Boeing 777 aircraft. Flights remained grounded between September 13 and 27, 2025. The airline later confirmed that operations would resume by the end of September.
These back-to-back developments come as PIA tries to balance operations with financial pressures. The sealing of a key facility raises concerns about internal challenges. At the same time, the Canada flight discount aims to restore customer confidence. The airline is yet to comment on how both issues may affect future services.
