PM Shehbaz announces Pakistan as the first country to implement the Digital FDI Initiative

ISLAMABAD: PM Shehbaz Sharif announced on Saturday that Pakistan has become the first country to implement the Digital Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) initiative, a project launched by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the (DCO).

 

In a statement, PM Shehbaz highlighted that Pakistan’s first digital FDI project has made significant progress in identifying key targets and promoting digital growth. He termed the initiative an important milestone in creating an investment-friendly environment in Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz emphasised that the Digital FDI project aims to implement robust digital infrastructure, support digitisation efforts, and promote the export of digital services. The project will focus on sectors that are expected to attract foreign investment, thereby boosting Pakistan’s economic landscape.

He further stated that the country is on the path toward building a vibrant digital economy, which will play a crucial role in achieving long-term sustainable progress and prosperity.
