ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) delegation met JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman to discuss Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s political crisis. The PML-N team included Ahsan Iqbal, Amir Muqam, and Azam Nazeer Tarar. Senior JUI-F leaders like Maulana Lutfur Rehman and Rashid Mahmood Soomro also attended. Both parties expressed concern over the recent election of the Chief Minister. They declared the process unconstitutional and unacceptable.

Opposition parties in the KP Assembly have unanimously rejected Sohail Afridi’s election as Chief Minister. They argue that legal and constitutional norms were violated. A joint statement confirmed that a legal review will be conducted. The opposition plans to file a petition in court through a panel of lawyers. This united stance signals a growing challenge to PTI’s leadership in the province.

Earlier, the KP Assembly elected PTI’s Sohail Afridi as Chief Minister with 90 votes. Afridi, an MPA from Khyber region, replaced Ali Amin Gandapur. One PTI member, Asif Mehsud, missed the vote as he was abroad. The opposition parties boycotted the session over concerns raised by Governor Faisal Karim Kundi. The Governor questioned the legitimacy of Gandapur’s resignation.

The Governor’s House received two different resignation letters from Gandapur. Officials reported inconsistencies in the signatures on both documents. This raised doubts about the resignation’s validity. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has summoned Gandapur to clarify the matter. The meeting is scheduled for October 15 at 3 p.m.

Governor Kundi stated that the issue will be handled under the Constitution. Meanwhile, opposition parties prepare for a legal battle. Political uncertainty continues in KP as leadership questions remain unresolved. The court’s decision may determine the future of governance in the province. All eyes are now on October 15 for the next key development.
