Police book unidentified men for dumper arson in Karachi

KARACHI: Police have filed a case at Aziz Bhatti police station after a dumper was torched near NIPA flyover. The FIR includes charges of arson, property damage, and rioting. It has been registered against 20 to 25 unidentified people. The incident followed an accident where a motorcyclist woman was injured after being hit by the dumper. Soon after, angry individuals set the vehicle on fire, creating panic in the area.
Police officials said the mob acted immediately after the accident. The dumper was engulfed in flames before law enforcement could intervene. This led to chaos and traffic disruption near the NIPA flyover. Investigations are now underway to identify those involved. Authorities said arrests will be made once suspects are confirmed.
This event closely follows another violent reaction on Rashid Minhas Road. In that incident, a dumper ran over a motorcycle in the Federal B Area. A young woman, Mahnoor, aged 22, and her 14-year-old brother, Ahmed Raza, died on the spot. Their father was left critically injured. The tragedy triggered public outrage across the area.
Enraged residents responded by torching at least seven dumpers. The situation quickly spiraled out of control before law enforcement arrived. Heavy contingents of police and Rangers were deployed to restore order. SSP Gulberg confirmed that the dumper driver was arrested. Authorities said further action would follow based on evidence and eyewitness reports.
These back-to-back incidents have raised serious concerns about traffic safety and mob justice. Police have urged the public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands. They stressed that legal action will be taken against both reckless drivers and those inciting violence. The city’s law enforcement is now increasing patrols in high-risk areas to prevent future unrest.
