PESHAWAR — The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a key amendment to the promotion policy for civil servants, allowing government employees on deputation to be eligible for promotions with their consent.

According to a notification issued by the Establishment Department, the amendment has been made under Serial No. 4, Clause D of the Civil Servants Promotion Policy. The revised policy now enables employees on deputation to be promoted if they willingly choose to do so.

The notification further clarifies that in the event of a promotion while on deputation, the employee must return to their parent department. Importantly, such a transfer will not affect their seniority.

Previously, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had encouraged government employees to utilise their full potential in the service of the nation. He had also expressed hope that civil servants, especially probationary officers, are capable of tackling the ongoing national challenges. The Prime Minister had reminded them that real-life service involves addressing public grievances and overcoming obstacles in the path of development.
