Poliovirus was detected in 20 districts across Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad

According to the National Polio Laboratory, environmental samples collected last week from 20 districts in the country have tested positive for the polio virus.

The polio virus has been confirmed in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Pishin, Quetta, Peshawar, D.I. Khan, Attock, Mianwali, Noshki, Zhob, and other districts. For the first time, polio cases have been reported from Noshki and Mianwali, as per the National Polio Laboratory.

So far this year, 43 polio cases have been reported nationwide, with Balochistan having the highest number at 22 cases. A nationwide polio vaccination campaign is ongoing until November 3. Authorities have urged parents to ensure that their children receive the polio vaccine drops.
