There is a strong possibility of a fuel price hike from March 1, which may increase the financial burden on consumers across the country. According to early reports, the government is expected to revise petroleum prices for the next 15 days. This expected change has created concern among citizens and businesses who are already dealing with rising living costs.

Sources say that petrol prices may go up by Rs 4.58 per liter for the upcoming fortnight. At the same time, high-speed diesel is also likely to see an increase of Rs 4.73 per liter. These adjustments are part of the regular review process based on global oil market trends and exchange rate changes.

In addition, kerosene oil may become more expensive by Rs 6.88 per liter. Light diesel oil is also expected to increase by around Rs 5 per liter. If approved, these new rates will apply for the next 15 days starting from March 1.

Experts believe that higher fuel prices can directly impact transportation costs. When fuel becomes expensive, the prices of daily goods and services may also rise. This can affect household budgets, especially for low- and middle-income families.
