Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is scheduled to visit Pakistan from February 12 to 13, 2025, at the request of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to a statement from the Foreign Office, President Erdogan will be accompanied by a high-level group that includes ministers, senior officials, and corporate executives.

During their visit, the prime minister and Turkish president will co-chair the 7th session of the Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC). The session is likely to conclude with the signing of a Joint Declaration and several major agreements/MoUs. The two leaders will also have a joint news session.

President Erdogan will also hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Asif Ali Zardari. Along with the Prime Minister, he will address the Pakistan-Turkey Business and Investment Forum, which will bring together top investors, corporations, and business leaders from both countries.

The High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) is the highest-level decision-making forum, giving strategic guidance to develop bilateral ties between the two nations.

“The HLSCC has several Joint Standing Committees (JSCs) that cover sectors such as trade, investment, banking, finance, culture, tourism, energy, defence, agriculture, transportation, communication, information technology, health, science and technology, and education.” So far, the HLSCC has met six times. The most recent session took place in Islamabad on February 13-14, 2020, according to the FO statement.

Pakistan and Turkey are linked by historical brotherly connections. The visit of the Turkish president and the 7th session of the HLSCC would contribute to strengthening fraternal ties and varied collaboration between the two nations.
