President Zardari addresses parliament, highlights key national issues

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari is addressing a joint session of parliament to mark the start of the second parliamentary year of the current National Assembly.

For security reasons, a complete ban on guest entry into Parliament House has been enforced. A limited number of invitation cards have been issued to journalists, while top officials, including service chiefs, foreign ambassadors, governors, and chief ministers, are attending the session.

In his address, President Zardari is outlining the government’s achievements over the past year, with a focus on economic policies and their impact. He is also emphasizing the need for national unity and consensus on key issues.

The president is expected to give a policy statement on regional matters, particularly the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), and discuss national security challenges, including counterterrorism efforts.
