Prime Minister calls for strong action against enemies

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised the urgent need to tackle threats against Pakistan’s security during a National Action Plan (NAP) Apex Committee meeting on Friday. The meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, was attended by federal ministers, provincial chief ministers, chief secretaries, and top military officials, including Army Chief General Asim Munir.
During the session, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned that the enemy continues to harbour malicious intentions, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where external infiltrators and local collaborators are endangering national peace. He stressed that foreign elements have been involved in destabilising the country and are collaborating with internal enemies to incite violence.
Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted Pakistan’s recent appointment to the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member, emphasising that the country will play an active role in ensuring peace and implementing the UN Charter. He congratulated the vice prime minister and the team involved for securing the position.
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of enhancing police training and technological capacity to combat terrorism effectively. He emphasised that modern technology must be leveraged in the ongoing fight against terrorism. He also reassured that Pakistan has responded strongly to hostile activities across its borders and will continue to do so.
Addressing the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, the Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan’s enemies, including those supported by foreign nations, are attempting to cause harm through covert operations. He called for a coordinated strategy involving the provinces, the federal government, and security agencies to eradicate these threats.
Further stressing the need for unity, Shehbaz Sharif remarked that national interest must always be prioritised over personal agendas to resolve issues effectively. He also expressed concern over the increasing anti-Pakistan rhetoric on social media, propagated by hostile elements abroad. He called for a collective effort to counter these malicious campaigns and ensure accurate information prevails.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the sacrifices made by the nation’s security forces, including officers and soldiers, who continue to work tirelessly for the safety of the country. He reassured that the sacrifices of the military personnel would not go in vain and called for unity and determination to eradicate terrorism from the nation. He reiterated that it is the collective responsibility of all to guide Pakistan towards development and prosperity.
