Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini becomes Aga Khan V

Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini has officially been named the 50th hereditary Imam of the Ismaili Muslims. The 53-year-old ascended to this role after the passing of his father, Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, at 88 last week.

King Charles has honoured Prince Rahim by granting him the title “His Highness,” following a royal tradition. Buckingham Palace confirmed this in an official statement.

The ceremony, called Takht Nashini, marked the beginning of Prince Rahim’s reign. Leaders of the Ismaili community attended, and the event was broadcast live worldwide. During the ceremony, Prince Rahim accepted pledges from Ismaili leaders and signed an official document confirming his role as “Imam-of-the-Time.”

Prince Rahim, born in 1971, is the eldest son of Aga Khan IV. He has been actively involved in the Aga Khan Development Network and chairs its Environment and Climate Committee.
