PTA Announces Free Smartphones for Women SIM Owners

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced an excellent initiative for women SIM owners. According to the PTA, the number of broadband users in the country has now reached 150 million, with 2 million users connected through fibre optic networks.
In celebration of this milestone, 200 free smartphones will be distributed to women SIM holders in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. These smartphones are donated by mobile manufacturing companies to back this campaign.
PTA stated that the smartphones will be distributed through a computerised lucky draw among eligible women SIM users to promote digital access for women.
A special ceremony was also held for this announcement, where Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja addressed the event. She emphasised the importance of quickly completing the upcoming mobile broadband spectrum auction and implementing the National Fiberisation Policy. The minister also mentioned that the government is working on a plan to provide mobile phones to citizens in easy instalments.
